An exciting and tense game between the A's
and Reds. The score was tied 1-1 after 2 innings and then the bats woke up for
both teams. The Reds took a 4-1 lead in the top of the 3rd and the A's responded
with 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to hits from Nick Armstrong (1B),
Josh Burton (1B) and Mark Gonzalez (2B). The Reds tied it in the top of the 4th
with two runs and the A's pushed ahead again with one in the bottom of the 4th
inning. The Reds took the lead 8-7 in the top of the 5th with singles from Silas
Vaughn and Berto Villapando. The A's responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the
5th to take the lead 12-8, thanks to hits from Nick Armstrong (1B), Josh Burton
(1B), Antonion Alvarado (1B), Kaipo Vevera (1B), and a 3 run home run by Mark
Gonzalez. The Reds rallied in the top of the 6th thanks to a single from Ryan
Costeiu (who was 3 for 4 on the day 3-1B). The A's were able to stop the rally
with the tying run on third and two outs as they got the last batter out on a
comebacker to the pitcher who threw to first to preserve the victory and give
the A's their only victory over the Reds this year.
Great game by everyone.
