A great game between the A’s and Giants. The A’s scored 3 runs in the top of the first thanks to singles by Christopher Neely and Kaipo Vevera, and a triple by Mark Gonzalez. The Giants answered back with 4 runs in the bottom of the first.

The middle innings saw a pitcher’s duel between the A’s and the Giants as Kaipo Vevera struck out 5 of the 7 batter’s he faced in the 2nd and 3rd innings and Dallas Frias struck out 5 out of 6 batters he faced in the 4th and 5th innings. Giants’ Gabe Kent led off the bottom of the 4th inning with a shot to center field which was caught by Otto Steindorf.

Trailing 7-5 entering the bottom of the 5th, the Giants got their first 3 batters on base and cut the lead to 7-6. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out, Christopher Neely struck out the next two batters and got the third out on a pop-up which was caught by Mark Gonzalez to end the rally. The A’s plated 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning with hits from Kaipo Vevera and Alanah Forrest, and an RBI fielder’s choice by Mark Gonzalez. Leo Rosemont led off the bottom of the 6th with a blast to center field which was chased down by Kaipo Vevera. On the next pitch, Gabe Kent was robbed of another hit as Kaipo made a sliding catch in shallow center field and Christopher Neely sealed the win with a strikeout to end the game.

The A’s struck out 10 players and the Giants combined to strike out 14 A’s batters. The A’s were led by Nick Armstrong (1-1, 3 runs scored), Christopher Neely (2-2, 2RBI, 3 runs scored), Kaipo Vevera (2-2, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored) and Mark Gonzalez (1-3, 3RBI). Game balls for the A’s went to Mark Gonzalez and Kaipo Vevera.
