Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and all
the ships at sea. We welcome you to another addition of "This Week in Little
League Baseball". (Long music intro)
How can two teams play on each coast on the same day? The big leaguers of the
Mets from New York and the Giants from the San Francisco bay meet in New York
for a three game series. The Little Leaguers of C.A.L.L. met here in Concord to
settle the west coast feud.
Same team names, same great battles, different outcomes.
The Mets started off the first with a lead off single by Andrei Ortega. This
looked like the extension of the last game between these two teams. The next
three Mets were retired on strike outs by the work of the Thomas', Thomas Herman
of the Giants and Thomas (bean ball) Parisi of the Mets. At the end of the half
inning, score 0-0.
In the bottom of the first, the Giants came out swinging. Nathan Stratton, Isaac
Taylor, Dalton Meredith and Bryce Pamer all singled. Joey Bursey than ripped a
double to right. Joey was able to reach home on Thomas Herman's single to left.
Scoring for the Giants were Nathan, Isaac, Dalton, Bryce and Joey. Victoria
Scalfaro pitched 2/3 of an inning with two strike outs. At the end of the first,
the Giants lead 0-5.
Thomas Herman faced four batters in the top of the second, striking out three of
the four but not before allowing a massive double off the bat of Victoria
Scalfaro.
The Giants Jeffrey Talbert came up to bat in the bottom of the second and
received his first hit of the season, a single. Lauren Schmidt, Nathan Stratton
(second hit), Daniel Scott, Bryce Pamer and Joey Bursey all singled. Scoring for
the Giants were, Jeffrey, Lauren, Nathan and Daniel. The Giants extended the
lead to 0-9.
Joey McClintock started off the top of the third with a single. Ryan Parisi
followed with a single of his own. Giants reliever, Daniel Scott retired the
next three batters with two strike outs and Lauren threw out a batter from the
catchers spot.
Jeffrey Talbert singled (second hit) to start it off for the Giants. Ryan Parisi
hunkered down and retired the next three Giants in a row with two strike outs
and a great defensive play from the mound. At the end of three, Giants lead 0-9.
Andrei Ortega (second hit) singled to right, hoping to start it up for the Mets
in the top of the fourth. The next two Mets struck out. Nick Oldham singled to
right, moving Andrei to third. The side retired with a third strike out.
In the bottom of the fourth, Isaac Taylor (second hit), Dalton Meredith (second
hit), Bryce Pamer(third hit) and Joey Bursey (third hit) all singled. Isaac
scored to extend the lead for the Giants to 0-10.
Pitching for the Mets today were Victoria Scalfaro, Antonio Alverado, Ryan
Parisi and Lucas Acton.
The Giants sent Thomas Herman and Daniel Scott to the mound. The outcomes
were different between the two games, but the excitement was the same.
The Mets took the game in NY 5-4 in 12 innings.
The Giants ended up with a 0-10 victory in Concord.
Don't forget to come out and watch all the Single A teams the week of June 9-15
for their own "Play Off Series".
