Concord American Baseball
Game Summary A Division
Giants vs Tigers - May 23, 2007
Giants 4 - Tigers 2

With the end of the season around the corner for both teams, this was the last battle between them. It was the most exciting game to date.

The visiting Giants started off the game in the top of the first innings with hits by Nathan Stratton and Dalton Meredith before retiring the side scoreless.

The Tigers first at bat had Isaiah Rankin, Aliyah Muhlestein and Cody Herrero hitting singles each before the inning ended scoreless.

In the top of the second, the Giants’ Angel Castro, Ciara Mendoza, Joey Bursey, Thomas Herman, Bryce Pamer, Nathan Stratton (second hit) and Daniel Scott reached base, all with singles. Scoring in the inning were Angel, Ciara and Joey. The Giants took the lead 3-0.

The Tigers had singles of their own from Erin Butler and Benjamin Ziebur, but came up with out any runs.

Dalton Meredith started the top of the third off for the Giants with a single to left. Ethan Angella and Angel Castro (second hit) each singled and Dalton Scored on Angels hit. The Giants extended their lead to 4-0.

The Tigers went fast in the bottom of the third with a 1-2-3 inning.

The Giants followed suite with a 3 up 3 down top of the fourth. Three consecutive strike outs of Greeeaaatttt pitching from the Tigers (had to put Tony’s words in there once this season).

The bottom of the fourth was the most exciting inning of the day. Jacob Morgan started off for the Tigers with a single. Cody Herrero (second hit) ripped a double to left moving Jacob to third. Jacob scored off Jared Rodriguez’s single. Benjamin Ziebur singled to score Cody. The side retired before more Tigers could reach home. The game ended 4-2 with the Giants on top.

It sure looked like the Tigers were going to pull off the victory this game if it wasn’t for the night settling in.

Be sure to catch the games after the holiday when the Giants host the Mets on 5/29 and the Tigers host the Red Sox on 5/30. Good luck to all.
