This was an incredibly exciting, early season game with
great pitching and defense by both teams.
The Yankees took the lead in the first by scoring one run on hits by Miles
Harrison, Trever Rivera, Nolan Brekle and James Pooler. Jordan Bidwell also took
one for the team when he was hit on the foot.
The Yankees extended their lead to 4-0 with a long triple to left center by Sid
Stratton that scored 2 runs. Sid then stole home on a wild pitch to complete the
Yankees scoring.
The Astros came back with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 4th to keep
it close. Great pitching and defense kept the score at 4-3 for the rest of the
game. Kevin Lara caught 2 line drives to right field to save runs and also made
a bare-handed catch of a sharp grounder and threw the runner out at first.
Trever Rivera saved the game by catching a foul pop-up with 2 runners on base,
shortly after taking a grounder off the chest.
Great pitching by Miles Harrison and Nolan Brekle of the Yankees and Brian
Roberts, Brevin Schmidt, and Mason Knight of the Astros.
Game ball went to Sid Stratton for his triple and solid defense.
