What a day!  What once was Opening Day and subjected to multiple rain-outs became Player Appreciation Day and the sun smiled!  It was a great day on Saturday as we celebrated our 51st season of Little League Baseball.  It was a day filled with fun, smiles, and tears as we remembered our dear friend and board member, Mike Galindo.  We will forever remember Mike at what is now, the Michael E. Galindo complex.  A special thank you to Kim Galindo, Chris, Kevin & Cory for sharing Mike with us for so many years.  He touched us all in a very unique and lasting way.

Thank you to all of you for coming out and spending the day with your CALL family.  It was a wonderful time of catching up, visiting and, not to mention, all the fun our kids had.  I want to take a moment and acknowledge and thank some very important people:

Our Opening Day Committee and Board of Directors that worked hard for not one but two weekends preparing fields, setting up equipment, painting, fixing, and making sure everything was perfect.  I appreciate each one of you and all the hard work you did – we make a great team.

Thank you to Molly Pardi and Debbie Penovich who worked tirelessly throughout the day to make sure the snack shack and the BBQ went smoothly; to Gil Bates for running the Home Run Derby, Lesley Peterson for running the carnival and Cindy Bates for running around with me and keeping me sane?

Thank you to Chris Sheehan & Chris Oswald and the team of BBQ cookers, preparers and servers.  It is a tough job but you are greatly appreciated.

I also want to say a special thank you to my daughter Sarah Sheehan and my parents Gary & Jan Tibbetts.  We spent hours shopping, categorizing, wrapping and then transporting the baskets not once but twice to the fields.  And for managing the silent auction for me all day on Saturday – Thank You ?

Thank you to our Vendors – Beadyful Creations, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Mary Kay, Partylite, Cookie Lee, Aranas’s Designs, Usborne Books, Stamp It Up, Creative Memories, Avon, Beauti Control, Princess House, The Body Shop, Holy Bears, Gold Canyon Candles.  I appreciate all of you being so flexible and spending your day at our vendor fair.  It added a lot to the day.

A big thank you to Darrell & Linda Graham for the donation of A’s tickets along with a parking pass and to Bob & Shirley Morales for their donation of Giants tickets.  These were both very popular items in our silent auction that brought in money for our league.

Thank you to our community business owners that donated items to our raffle.  It is your generosity that allows us to provide these exciting events for our families.

Finally, thank you to all of our CALL families.  For your help on Saturday, for spending your time to make the day a success and for shopping and supporting our league.  We have a great mix of families in this league and you all bring so much to it and in doing so, provide all of our kids a great, wholesome place to play and lifelong memories to carry with them and pass onto their children someday.
