Both teams brought out their hitting
shoes in this 9-8 Mets, A’s slugfest. The A’s got on the board early and
often in the first 3 innings and held a 6-1 lead into the fourth. Nathan
Horton came on to pitch in the fifth but the Mets would not be denied,
scoring 8 runs and taking a 9-6 lead into the sixth.
Now it was the A’s turn. They would
fight back with 2 runs of their own and have runners at 1st and 2nd with
2 outs when Horton got the A’s batter to hit a 6-4-3, Collodel, Gartner
to Kracke double play to end the game.
Gartner led the Mets offensive attack
going 3-4 and scoring 3 times. Mike Collodel also went 3-4 and scored once.
Brandon Peterson was 2-4 with 2 runs scored while Nathan Horton also scored
a run and Justin Chisholm tripled
Zack Ramicone, Andy Rouse, Marcelo
Tolosa and Tanner Chatterley had multiple hit games for the A’s accounting
for 10 A’s hits.
