Michael Collodel pitched a crafty game, limiting the Pirates to three hits, while striking out 12, in leading the Mets to victory.
 
In a scoreless game, in the bottom of the third, the Mets erupted for four runs, with two coming on a single by Justin Chisholm. The Mets added three more in the bottom of the fifth, two coming on a swinging bunt single by Sarah Morales.
 
The never-say-die Pirates began to rally in the sixth, loading the bases with no outs, but Collodel was able to hold them off with just one run. Thomas Roccanova led the Mets with a double and single and two runs scored. Collodel, Nathan Horton, and Austin Bodily had singles, also for the Mets.
 
For the Pirates, Sam Bouquin had a booming triple in the first, and Jason Hooy added a double, and Dirk VanHoven had a single. Ricky Lloyd turned in several fine defensive plays at third for the Mets.
