Concord American Baseball
Game Summary Junior Division
  Concord Giants vs Pittsburg Orioles
May 7, 2005

Giants 4 - Orioles 3

The Giants tip their caps to the entire Pittsburg Orioles organization for their great sportsmanship and sensitivity to the loss of Concord Cardinal's coach Mike Galindo who passed away on Thursday of this week.  Both teams met on the field prior to the start of today's game and after Concord coach Joe Keane delivered a few remarks, the teams paid tribute to Mike with a moment of silence.   It was one of the most heartfelt moments I've ever seen on a baseball field.

The game began with great pitching on both sides with no runs scored by either team.  The Orioles broke on top scoring 3 runs in the second inning.  The Giants managed to scratch out 1 run and the score remained 3 to 1 until the 6th.

In their half of the inning, the Giants scored 3 times with some great hits and heads-up base running.  Seth Chatterley sparked the inning with a double into left center field.

The Orioles had their best chance to score in the bottom of the 6th bringing the heart of their order to the plate.  Seth threw and exceptional game shutting down the big bats of the Orioles in both the 6th and 7th innings.

This game was highlighted by some great fielding by Craig Doiron who made several big league plays at short stop as well as Tony Quinonez who made several timely catches in center.

Thanks again to the Pittsburg Orioles players, coaches, and fans who showed what Little League is all about.  You are a class act!  Good luck the rest of the season.
