With one of the Mets best players absent and facing a tough A's pitcher in
Andy Rouse, the Mets pitcher, Ricky Lloyd and his teammates hung tough and
beat a player challenged A's team, 4 - 0.
The A's started the game with 9 players but a 10th soon arrived. The game
started as expected with both pitchers getting a majority of outs via the K.
But in the third inning, Rouse would run into some patient Mets batters and
when the Mets got runners to second and third with 2 outs and 2 strikes on the
hitter, you looked for the fastball. Rouse thru one way over the catcher's
head. It bounced off the fence pole and bounded down the third baseline
scoring both Mets runners. That was all Lloyd would need. Ricky struck out 10
A's and allowed only 1 hit. Mix in only 3 walks and it was a great pitching
performance by Lloyd. Brandon Peterson walked and scored twice and Thomas
Roccanova added a triple.
Andy Rouse also played a great defensive game at SS. While Kaleb Chelette and James Brekle also had a good game defensively.
