The Concord Giants defeated their Martinez counterparts by a score of 11 to 6.  Here is the inning by inning summary.

1st: Concord’s Kris Garcia’s line drive was snagged by a Martinez’ shortstop who then turned a double play.  Martinez’ lineup went down in order.

2nd: Concord scored 3 runs off doubles by Seth Chatterly and Tony Quiñonez, along with base hits by Jerrod McHenry, and Cody Martin. Again Martinez went down in order.

3rd: Concord batted the lineup as Josh, Kris, Seth, Andrew Gardner, Jerrod, and Paloma Woods all hit to score 5 runs. Excitement was stoked and then tempered by Seth’s headlong dive into 2nd as he stayed down, and moments later, dusted himself off to the applause of his team. Martinez again went 1,2,3.

4th: Martinez had 3 errors, allowing 3 base runners, but Concord scored only once.  Martinez batters put 4 men on and scored twice.

5th: Momentum shifted as Concord stranded Travis Peterson. Martinez took advantage of a hit batter, 3 walks, a balk, and 2 hits to score 4 times.

6th: Concord reached base on 4 hits, and 2 walks; scoring twice.  Martinez loaded the bases but could not score.

Concord’s Kris Garcia dramatically end all scoring by stealing home. 

Final Score:          Concord Giants  11  -  Martinez Giants  6
