The
Mariners once again proved difficult to over come in yet another one run
game for the Mets. The Mets coming out on top of this one 2 to 1
were led by sound pitching by Kyle Debacker who struck out 13 hitters and
only gave up 3 hits. Jonathon Adams, John Mendoza, Michael Colledel
Andrew Gartner and Kyle Debacker all contributed with hits, Adams being
responsible for two runs scored. The Mariners threatened in the bottom
of the sixth inning with two singles resulting in runners on second and
third base with two outs. Michael Trade pitched a terrific game giving
up only four hits and in the sixth inning Nick Welsh came to bat with two
outs. With two strikes he smashed a line drive into the hole between
shortstop and third base, a hit for sure if it were not for the diving
game saving catch by the Mets shortstop Thomas Roccanova.
