Clayton Valley  3  -  Concord American  1

The run is over.  Concord was looking to avenge a 14 - 0 blowout last Friday and CALL needed to beat Clayton Valley twice to win the championship but it was not to be.

Concord got some first inning generousity from the Clayton pitcher around a single from Corey Galindo but could not capitalize on a baseloaded situation.  Bobby Morales took the mound and quickly gave up back to back doubles. A single later in the inning and a great play from Andrew Gardner to Conor Harrington to John Mendoza denied Clayton a second run. Clayton Valley managed a second run later that inning and Concord was down 2 - 0.

Clayton tacked on another run in the second inning but Bobby settled down to scatter 3 hits through the last 3 innings. Meanwhile, the Clayton pitcher allowed only 5 hits and a run in the 3rd inning on another single from Corey Galindo and a double from Conor Harrington. Mike Bottini and John Mendoza rounded out the hits for Concord.

Clayton Valley, who scored in double figures in 4 of 5 previous games and 10 runned 3 of those opponents was held to 3 runs in CALL's 3 -1 loss. It was a great game and a nice run by the kids from Concord. This Concord - Clayton battle should go on for another few years.
