In what can only be described as "
Little League at its' finest" the Mets outlasted the A's 3-2
in nine innings of play. Nathan Hortons' double off the
right centerfield wall scored Weston Peters-Ring from second
base with the Mets' first final inning victory of the year.
Excellent pitching and defense kept this game close and
low-scoring. Horton pitched the final five innings striking
out eleven, walking none and allowing one hit , a single by
Quincey Conn in the eighth. Joel Dodenhoff had two singles
and scored the games' first run on a single by Brandon
Peterson in the third. Andrew Robles laid down a nice bunt
in the ninth to keep the winning rally alive in the ninth.
For the A's, Zack Ramicone pitched three innings, striking
out eight, and also tripled , driving in a run and scoring
one as well.
