Game Summary Minor Division
  Athletics vs Cubs - April 30, 2005
Athletics 9 - Cubs 8

In the first inning the Cubs were on fire. Andy Mavrakos managed to strike out two of the Cubs but Diego Oceguera, Alex Temple, Brandon Oswald, Daniel Boatwright and Mikey Mcmurdo still managed to score. The A’s came back with scoring by Eric Carlson, Domanic Glenn and Andy Mavrakos before Oceguerra was able to earn his third strikeout.

In the second, neither team managed to score and both pitchers struck out two batters each.

In the third, the A’s defense was lead by Mavrakos, striking out three batters, only allowing one player to reach base. Again, the Cubs were unable to score. The A’s scored Carlson, Jack Brown, Glenn, Mavrakos and David Hollenbeck with no outs to take the lead back.

In the fourth, Hollenbeck pitched a great inning, striking out one batter. Eric Carlson lead the defense this time, forcing out two runners at first. Mario Reyes scored the game winning run for the A’s by hitting a double and then stealing his way to home. Brandon Oswald kept the A’s from scoring any more runs by striking out three batters in a row.

The fifth inning was tense for the A’s as the Cubs managed to score three runs, despite Hollenbeck’s best efforts. He struck out two and threw to Carlson at first for the other out. Oswald struck out all three A’s batters to keep them scoreless in their half of the inning.

Hollenbeck walked the first Cub in the sixth, but didn’t lose his cool, striking out the next three batters to wrap up the win for the A’s.
