On closing day 2004 with hundreds on hand waiting for closing day festivities, the Angels closed out the season by beating the Mariners 13-1.  The Angels finished the season 14-10, including winning their last 5.  Following a 5 game losing streak at the start of the season that dropped the Angels to 3-6, they came back to win 11 of the next 15.

The Angels struck early for two in the first behind an rbi single by Andy Rouse, driving home Marcelo Tolosa who walked.  Mikie Bottini also walked and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.  They followed that with  a 5 run second inning that was highlighted by a Bobby Morales 2 run double, and a Mikie Bottini base hit.  The inning also included 4 walks and plenty of errors.  They followed that with a 6 run third highlighted by a Morales and Farley rbi single, an Austin Clark base hit, and a big three run Niko Callejas double.  Corey Galindo threw the last two scoreless innings striking out 5, only giving up a single to Bottini.

The pitching came through with a great performance, starting with two scoreless by Drew Farley.  Farley worked out of trouble by striking out 6 Mariners.  Andy Rouse threw 2 perfect innings, striking out 3.  Bottini and Zack Ramicone split up a scoreless fifth, and Bobby Morales allowed an unearned run on an outfield throwing error in the sixth.

The Mariners were led by Corey Galindo's two innings of scoreless ball, and Ben Davidson's 2 hits (double, single.)
