Bobby Morales hit a three run blast off Mets starter John Mendoza in the 2nd to give the Angels an early 7-0 lead. Morales took a first pitch fastball over the left-center fence scoring Steven Dye and Andy Rouse ahead of him. It was Morales' second homer of the year. Andy Rouse had an RBI single scoring Tommy Madge ahead of him. In the first, starting pitcher, and game winner, Mikie Bottini struck first with a two run double adding to his team leading 16 RBI total. He later scored on a wild pitch. Morales paced the offense scoring 3 runs while adding 3 RBI's with a double and a homerun. Victor Alcala-Kellogg added an RBI.
 
Bottini breezed through the first, striking out the side in order, but worked in and out of trouble the next two innings. Holding a 7-6 lead in the 3rd, with the tying run on third, he battled for back to back strike outs to halt the rally. Bottini had 6 k's, 0 walks and earned the victory. Morales came in to earn his first save going 3 innings, giving up 0 runs, 0 hits, walking 1 and striking out 6.
