 Yankees vs Rockies - April 27, 2004

In the top of the first inning Rockies pitcher Matthew Hollenbeck struck out a Yankees batter to end the inning.  With the Rockies up to bat Tanner Pirslin hit a double to right field to bring Brandon Goodrich home and Nicholas Peery hit a double to bring Tanner Pirslin home.

In the top of the second inning pitcher Matthew Hollenbeck struck out two batters and Firstbaseman Jordan Chin got a batter out at first.  In the bottom of the second inning Yankees pitcher Gavriel Beteta struck out 3 Rockies batters to end the inning.

In the third inning Yankees Joel Dodenhoff hit Cameron Harvey home and Jack Nofztger hit Joel Dodenhoff home to tie the score.  The bottom of the third inning Brandon Goodrich hit a double and Jacob Bursey made it to firstbase.  Then Jordan Chin’s Triple brought them both home to make the score 4 to 2 for the Rockies.

The fourth inning brought out Rockies Catcher Michael Lima giving a target for pitcher Jordan Chin to throw the ball for the strikeouts needed to bring the Rockies back to the batters box.   The Rockies Travis Gaddis hit a double and then made it home on Michael Lima’s triple to the center field fence to make the outcome of a game win seem like a sure thing.

In the fifth inning, Pitcher Nicholas Peery struck out a batter and then pitched a fastball to Kyle Hunter who hit a home run to bring the score to a 5 to 5 tie.  In the bottom of the 5th inning with the score tied the Rockies needed one run for the victory.  Brandon Goodrich singled, then Yankees Firstbaseman Gavriel Beteta beat Jordan Chin to firstbase for the out.

The game started to seem like a tie until the final hit by Tanner Pirslin brought Brandon Goodrich in for the game winning run.
