Concord American Baseball
Game Summary  Junior Division
Giants vs Cardinals - March 22, 2003
Giants 6  -  Cardinals 4

The Giants and Cardinals battled in a very close contest that went the full 7 innings to open the Concord American Little League season.  Giant's hurler Garrett Paquin pitched 6 solid innings allowing only 1 Cardinal run and received a game ball.

Brandon Hansen also received a game ball for driving in 2 runs and scoring once.  Mark Ray who came into the game in the 4th inning, contributed by making several put-outs from his second base position and also received a game ball.

The Giants crused through the first 6 innings and were ahead in the top of the 7th by a score of 6  to 1.  The Cardinals came to bat in the 7th and made the game close by scoring 3 more runs.  But with 2 out and runners on base, Kyle Timario who was playing center field made a heads-up play on a base hit by throwing to Mark Ray at second base for the final out of the game.

If all of the games are as close as this one was it will be an exciting season!

The Giant's next game is on Tuesday, March 25th at 5:30 pm against the Clayton Valley Giants.  The game will be played at the Clayton Community Park in Clayton.

The Cardinals next game is on Wednesday, March 26th at 5:30 pm against the Clayton Valley Indians at Concord High School.
