The opening game for both teams was highlighted by excellent pitching. Joey Horvot and Conor Harrington each pitched three scoreless innings for the Cardinals. Justin Staton of the Yankees went four innings without giving up a hit.
The
Cardinals scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth when Christain
Kaplan reached first on an error and was pushed to third by a line drive
single by Willy Rego. With two outs, Josh Keane placed a hit to right
field that scored Christain from third.
