The Braves had extremely strong pitching from Nick Welsh (2 runs and 3 hits in 3 innings) and Ray Buford (no runs and only 1 hit in 3 innings). Ray Buford also contributed by going 4 for 5 and driving in 2 runs.  The game was tied 2-2 through 3 innings, but the Braves were able to get 7 runs in the top of the fourth and were able to hang on the rest of the way.
 
The A's played well defensively by getting out of bases loaded jams in the 1st and 2nd without giving any runs up. Michael James pitched very well for the A's. Sean Flannery led the A's offensively with two of the four base hits.
